Welcome to the Type A Gardener

I’m glad you’re here! However you came across this little blog, whether that be a family member or close friend, reader of Type A Trips or simply stumbled in here by mistake, I hope that this will be the first of many moments we have together. I am just starting out, so please be patient as I add content, garden guides and personal insights as quickly as I can over the next few months.

I started this journey because the road to falling madly in love with gardening was anything but blissful. It was frustrating, defeating, overwhelming and exhausting and I quickly realized that this was probably the reason most people don’t garden, even though they may want to. So I set out to share my gardening experiences, as a novice but eager gardener, to help others learn and actually enjoy their path towards growing their own food.

Here’s a quick overview of what you can expect and where you can go to learn more about what the type a gardener is all about.

  • The Home Page: The home page is a great place to start. It’s a general introduction of what this space is all about and my perspective as a gardener growing in Southern California.

  • About: If the home page introduction wasn’t enough for you, head over to the About page, where I go way deeper into how I got started gardening, my life away from the soil and other topics I’ll be talking about in the blog.

  • Give Thanks: This page is for anyone who may want to help support this venture by partnering through giving. I respect you as a reader; therefore, absolutely refuses to distract your experience with unnecessary ads or by pushing products I don’t believe in to make a buck. I do this because I love helping others by providing free, quality content. But for anyone who finds value in what I’m doing and wants to help with the costs of keeping this little tug boat tugging, I’ve created an Amazon Wish List of items that you can send that will be used directly in the garden.

  • The Blog: This is where you’ll find the latest and greatest content, tips, troubleshooting and general door into my garden soul and beyond. In addition to showing you the chaos of managing my 12+ garden beds, I’ll chat about my marriage to Colin, my passion for hosting friends and family, share how we use our fresh veggies in recipes as well as some deeper topics about life.

  • Resources (coming soon): This is a growing spot for my favorite gardening resources, from other bloggers, YouTube channels, online seed stores and quality products. This page will continue to grow and grow, so check back often.

  • Garden Guides (coming soon): This is where you will find some of my personally created resources that are downloadable and printable, like my seed Inventory spreadsheet, a step by step guide to starting from seed, how to safely transplant seedlings and my garden map for seasonal planning.

I want to hear from you! Please leave a comment about your gardening journey and what you would like to read about. It could be about choosing the right soil, what the easiest plants are to grow, growing plants from seed, anything! With your input, we can create a space that we can learn, grow and garden together.
